STAR Registration Program
New State legislation requires all homeowners receiving a Basic STAR exemption to register with the New York State Tax Department in order to receive the exemption in 2014 and subsequent years. Registration will begin August 19, 2013 and continue through December 31, 2013.
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Establishment of equitable assessments which are used in the computation of taxes for all properties in the Town.
EXEMPTIONS: Assists taxpayers with applications for partial tax exemptions for Veterans and Low-income Seniors and determines eligibility. Administers Clergy and STAR exemptions and processes renewals for Wholly Exempt Properties.
ASSESSMENT RECORDS: Maintains records of current owners of property, assessments, lot sizes, school district, etc. Maintains tax maps for all Town properties.
OTHER SERVICES: Estimates taxes for taxpayers and banks for real estate closings.
