Niskayuna provides weekly curbside pickup of bagged leaves and bundled brush. Call the Highway Department (785-9753) for information on the pickup schedule.
Residential yard waste may also be taken directly to the Schenectady County Composting Facility, 24 Hetcheltown Road in Glenville (399-6980). A $20 vehicle sticker (bring registration) is required. County residents may dump up to 1.5 cubic yards (small truck load) per day for free, anything over is assessed an extra fee.  Hours:  April through December, Monday-Saturday , 8 AM-3 PM;  January through March, Friday & Saturday (only)  8AM-3PM.
Brush and Tree Limbs: Most weeks between April - September, the Town picks up brush and tree limbs up to 2" in diameter at curbside if they are securely tied in bundles (with cord, not wire) of no more than 40 pounds and not more than 4 feet in length.
Between October 1 and 14 a loose brush pickup announcement is placed in local newspapers and the Town Newsletter. At that time, residents may leave brush unbundled at curbside including tree limbs up to 4-foot lengths and 4-inch diameter.
Leaves: Between October 15 and the first snow fall, the Town vacuums loose leaves that have been piled within 4 feet of, but not on, the pavement. Leaves may also be bagged in biodegradable bags and left anytime at curbside, April - November.
