RESPONSIBILITIES: As Chief Executive Officer of the Town, directs the day-to-day activities of Town affairs and coordinates the activities of Town Department heads. Establishes the standing committees of the Town Board and names their chairpersons and membership. Appoints the Deputy Supervisor, a Confidential Secretary, and the Town Historian.
PROVIDES: direction in the implementation of policies adopted by the Town Board.
COMMUNICATES: with County, State, and Federal agencies on matters relating to Town management.
PROPOSES: policies and projects for consideration by the Town Board.
LEGISLATIVE FUNCTIONS: Presides at meetings of the Town Board and is one of its five voting members. Calls for Special Meetings of the Town Board as needed. As a voting member of the Board, participates with the Councilmen in the appointment of all non-elected employees other than highway workers.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Acts as Treasurer of the Town and Chief Fiscal Officer. Works with the Town Comptroller to prepare the initial draft of the annual budget for presentation to the Town Board. Signs all contracts authorized by the Town Board. Only the Supervisor may sign payroll and other checks prepared by the Town Comptroller.
