The Minutes of the Town Board meeting of May 1, 2012 were approved as presented
The Minutes of the Town Board meeting of May 17, 2012 were approved as presented.
The Minutes of the Town Board meeting of May 29, 2012 were approved as presented.
The Minutes of the Town Board meeting of June 14, 2012 were approved as presented.
The Minutes of the Town Board meeting of July 12, 2012 were approved as presented.
The Minutes of the Town Board meeting of September 12, 2012 were approved as presented.
The Minutes of the Town Board meeting of October 11, 2012 were approved as presented.
Resolution 2012-245 honors the players and coaches of the 2012 15U Niskayuna Babe Ruth All-Star team.
Supervisor Landry honored the team and coaches for their outstanding season this year. Supervisor Landry said he wished he could have gone with them, adding that in baseball there is a saying, “you have to lose some to be a winner”. Whereas last year the team made it to the Mid-Atlantic finals, they went even further this year to the World Series semifinal game and came in 3rd place. It was a learning experience and something to take with them always. Supervisor Landry read the resolution and congratulated each member of the team and the coaches.
PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR
Leslie Gold, 1919 Pawtucket Ave., lives near the city line and has an issue with the plus four zip code and her address being recognized as a Niskayuna address. She asked if the board would be able to help.
Lorene Zabin, 2455 Brookshire Dr., has concerns with what is going on with the comprehensive plan.
Supervisor Landry said that they meet twice a month and Councilwoman Kasper informed her that there are minutes from the meeting.
Bill Poppino, 1027 Hickory Rd., has concerns with the issue of bullying and was delighted to see an article in the Spot Light on this issue. The children in the Mohonasen School district grade 3-5 are taking a stand on bullying with a program to make a pledge again bullying.
Linda Rizzo, 2229 Fairlawn Ave., is glad that the town budget has stayed within the tax cap, but in four years with no increase the town may not be able to stay within the cap.
When no other members of the public wished to be heard, Supervisor Landry closed Privilege of the Floor.
Transportation and Public Facilities - Councilwoman McGraw reported the loose brush pick-up has started and the Highway Department is getting ready for snow removal. Tree planting has begun, replacing the trees with Elm trees. Drainage work has started at River Road Park. The Halloween Parade will be this Sunday, 3 pm at Town Hall.
Parks and Community Programs – Councilwoman McDonnell announced that the fall and winter program transition has begun and thanked Lori Peretti and her staff for the kids run that was held this past week after having to be rescheduled because of the rain we had at the Fall Fun Run. The next meeting will be held on November 1st at 7 pm at Town Hall.
Senior Advisory Committee - the next committee meeting is Friday October 25. The White Elephant Sale went well; Councilwoman McDonnell thanked the staff and volunteers for all their work in making it such a success.
Police and Safety Committee – Councilwoman Kasper announced the next meeting as November 9th at
9:30 am. The committee and Police Department are still planning for the arrival of the new police cars. Thanks to Stan Fiminski, Deputy Chief for filling in for Chief Lubrant while he was out.
The following resolutions were approved with a vote of five ayes unless otherwise noted.
Resolution 2012-233 authorizes repairs to the Water and Sewer Department’s vac-jet truck.
Introduction of Proposed Local Law No. F (2012)
Resolution 2012-234 schedules a public hearing on a local law to amend the town code regarding a real property tax exemption.
Resolution 2012-235 makes certain budget modifications.
Resolution 2012-236 calls for a public hearing on the preliminary budget of the Town of Niskayuna for 2013.
Resolution 2012-237 authorizes the purchase of a new 4x4 pick-up for use by the Highway Department.
Resolution 2012-238 authorizes the purchase and installation of a valve at the Town’s Water Treatment Plant.
Resolution 2012-239 accepts a bid for the purchase of plow equipment and a dump body for use by the Highway Department.
Resolution 2012-240 authorizes and directs that advertisements be made for bids on the purchase by the Town of Niskayuna in 2013 of required quantities of materials needed for the Town’s public works.
Resolution 2012-241 authorizes the supervisor to apply for NYSERDA “Buy Green, Save Green” appliance rebates. This resolution passed with a vote of 4 ayes. Councilman McKinney recused himself due to client affiliation.
Resolution 2012-242 authorizes the renewal of a software database maintenance contract.
Resolution 2012-243 accepts a bid for the purchase of a backhoe for use by the Water and Sewer Department.
Resolution 2012-244 authorizes the conveyance of certain town property to Consolidated Water District No. 1, Sewer District No. 1 and Sewer District No. 6.
Resolution 2012-245 honors the players, coaches and managers of the 2012 15U Niskayuna Babe Ruth All-Star Team.
There being no further business to come before the Town Board, Supervisor Landry adjourned the meeting.
