The 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine is now available to all New Yorkers aged 6 months and older
who want to be vaccinated, as the vaccine supply permits.
Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) will be offering the H1N1 Flu vaccine
for all area residents aged 18 and older at the
Niskayuna Community Center, at no charge
February 9, 2010, 12Noon – 2:00 pm.
Appointments will be given in order of reservation beginning at noon.

Reasons Why H1N1 Immunization is STILL Important

  • Winter brings the cool, dry air – conditions favorable for the virus to infect people.
  • Social gatherings and events are settings that are perfect for the flu to spread.
  • The past pattern with novel influenza is for three waves to occur. We had the first wave in the spring of 2009 and the second wave is now winding down. Experts suggest that we may have a third wave in the late winter or early spring.
That means that this flu will most likely come back to Schenectady and make more people ill.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that you receive the H1N1 vaccine even if you think that you have had the flu.

For these reasons it is important to consider getting vaccinated - for your health, the health of your family and friends.
SCPHS would like to make the process of being vaccinated a quick and pleasant experience for all.  For this reason consent forms will be available at a location indicated by your center for you to complete prior to the day of the clinic.  It is important to complete the entire front page of the form.
Please fill in all the spaces on the top half of the form, answer all the questions (Note: #3 is N/A or unknown) and print and sign your name.
To save time, you may print and bring the completed consent form to your appointment.

You may make an appointment at the Niskayuna Community Center at 372-2519.

There will be time to answer questions at the time of the clinic.
You may also call Jane Russell, PHN or June Schuldt, PHN at 386-2824 to answer your questions.

Sincerely,
Jane Russell, PHN
June Schuldt, PHN
