NEW RESIDENTIAL WATER METERS TO BE INSTALLED
This summer, the Town of Niskayuna will begin replacing all residential water meters throughout the town. The new meters will be equipped with radio transmitters to permit remote readings of water usage. Many of the water meters in Town are either quite old or technologically obsolete, and are in need of replacement. The new meters will be more accurate and will ensure that residents are billed properly for water consumed.
After a comprehensive bidding process, the Town has contracted with two fine companies, East National Water, and Troupe Water Service, to install the new water meters. Sometime in the near future, a representative from one of these companies will be contacting residential customers by postcard to schedule an appointment for the installation of a new meter.
Representatives from East National Water or Troupe Water Service will have to enter homes to replace the water meters. These representatives will wear a uniform bearing the company logo, and they will have a photo ID badge issued by the Town of Niskayuna. Residents are urged to make sure that the representatives from either company have the proper identification.
There will be no direct cost to residents for the meter replacement work. Although each installation will vary due to existing conditions, it is anticipated that a normal water meter replacement should take no longer than 30 minutes.
