CCA Residential Electricity Program in Niskayuna
Tuesday, November 19th 6-6:50pm: Town Hall, 1 Niskayuna Circle
Monday, December 2nd 12:30-1:30pm: Niskayuna Library, 2400 Nott Street East

The Town of Niskayuna’s Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) Program focuses on providing electric supply choices, including more access to renewable energy, while continuing to rely on the delivery service and physical infrastructure of the local electric utility (National Grid). Niskayuna has chosen MEGA to be the administrator of our CCA program and they are assisting us with public outreach.

A CCA allows residents to increase individual buying power through a group purchase of electricity.

As a participant in the CCA program you may benefit from

  • lower rates on your electric bill
  • price stability and budget certainty (avoid spikes in prices)
  • access to 100% renewable ‘green’ electricity

You have the choice to opt-out of Niskayuna’s CCA program and stay with National Grid for your electric supply or leave the Program at any time without a penalty. If you opt out or are not automatically enrolled, you may also opt-in to the CCA Program. The CCA Program is compatible with budget billing, community solar and rooftop solar.

The Town has adopted a local law that allows for the creation of a CCA in Niskayuna. We will not know what the rate packages are until they are negotiated by MEGA, but prior to finalizing any contracts the Town will know and publicize the rates and amount of renewable energy included before committing to anything specific. Public outreach is an important requirement to all CCA programs and we look forward to hearing from you throughout the process.
