Information regarding current power outages in the Town of Niskayuna

Town Supervisor Jaime Puccioni and Deputy Supervisor Jessica Brennan participated in a municipal leader meeting with National Grid regarding the recent storm that hit the Capitol Region. The meeting was to go over the current conditions and the plans in progress to assist with any power outages and to relay safety information to the Niskayuna residents.
National Grid issued the following guidelines for safety during the aftermath of the storm:
- Treat all downed lines as if the are live
- If you are using a generator, please make sure you open your main breaker and operate in an open air area.
- Do not operate a generator indoors and keep windows and doors closed while the generator is in use.
The heavy wet snow has primarily caused tree and pole damage.
There is approximately 1,000 emergency staff working on this effort to restore power and about 70,000 Capitol Region residents impacted by the storm with the majority of residents in Schenectady and Albany Counties. 95% restoration is expected by 11:30 pm Sunday evening.
National Grid is working on restoring critical facilities first
There will be distribution of water and dry ice tomorrow between 12pm – 4pm at the Glenville YMCA located on 127 Droms Road in Glenville, NY. This is open to all Schenectady County residents.
