STATEMENT REGARDING TOWN ACTION ON THE PROPOSED JEWISH HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL

On Monday, May 14, 2018 the Town received a request from Dr. Michael Lozman, founder of the Jewish Holocaust Memorial proposed for Troy-Schenectady Road (Route 7) in Niskayuna.  Dr. Lozman asked that the Town Board delay the vote on the Special Use Permit required to complete the project.

The Town Supervisor and the Town Board have been encouraged by Dr. Lozman’s willingness to build consensus with the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York and residents of the Town regarding issues such as design elements, educational components, and location of the memorial.

The Town Board will consider the Special Use Permit for the Jewish Holocaust Memorial at their June 26 meeting.
