Grievance Day is May 28th.
Grievance applications (RP-524) will be accepted starting on May 1st and must be received in the Assessor's office by the close of business on May 28th. 


Senior Citizens
You may be eligible for the Enhanced STAR and the Senior Citizens Property Tax Exemption. Owners must be at least 65 years old, reside on the property, meet certain income requirements and apply by March 1st in order to be eligible for either exemption on the next assessment roll. Contact the Assessor’s office at for more information.   

Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers 
Applications for the new volunteer firefighter and ambulance worker exemption are now being accepted. Please contact the assessor’s office for an application and instructions.

Responsible for
The assessor is responsible for maintaining a fair and equitable assessment roll. This involves estimating the value of all real property in the town. This value is converted into an assessment, which is one component in the computation of real property tax bills.

Exemptions

Assists taxpayers with applications for partial tax exemptions for Veterans and Low-income Seniors and determines eligibility. Administers Clergy and STAR exemptions and processes renewals for Wholly Exempt Properties.

Assessment Records
Maintains records of current owners of property, assessments, lot sizes, school district, etc. Maintains tax maps for all Town properties.

Other Services
Estimates taxes for taxpayers and banks for real estate closings.
