Dr. Brennan is the Town Historian for the Town of Niskayuna. He brings a unique blend of historical appreciation and business practicality to his role.
Dr. Brennan and his wife have been residents of Niskayuna since 1978 and all four of their children attended and graduated from the Niskayuna School system. After an initial career in business and a second career as an academic historian, the position of Niskayuna Town Historian offered him an opportunity to engage history from a different perspective – as a Public Historian, who seeks to engage with the public and make historical insight directly accessible and useful. History is about more than knowing what occurred in the past, but about understanding what occurred in the past. Thoughtful historical preservation (whether documents or domiciles) enhances that objective.
